Information
Galería Moisés Pérez de Albéniz is pleased to announce the gallery’s second solo exhibition of Itziar Okariz, titled 51 sueños, entre el dos de octubre y el veintiuno de noviembre de 2014 (51 dreams between the 2nd of October and the 21st of November 2014). Started three years ago, this dream diary, takes different forms with the passage of time: performances, sculptures, posters. Emails about dreams sent to a museum, hung on a wall everyday, accumulating, each addition obscuring its predecessors. Performances where dreams are read simultaneously hindering the intelligibility of the texts. Readings of the dreams dreamt during an exhibition upon arriving at the present, broadcast in a pre-recorded message sent to a distant place such as Mexico. Paintings, records of what happened in another time and place, and at the same time, performances’ scores that permit musical reproduction.
Based on the aforesaid scores-paintings, which work as recordings on paper and presented in chronological order, the exhibition space’s walls are occupied by the 51 days of dreams, or dreams not recalled, empty; 51 days of dreams vocalized in performance, in repetitions, in additions, in substractions of cyclical repetitions, which are poetry, images and paintings, and which oscillate between form. The exhibition includes, in addition: five paintings from a lecture about A room of one’s own by Virginia Woolf; the videos Cumpleaños feliz and Zoom out: diario de sueños; a fragmented reading, an excerpt from a dream diary, which the artist will record everyday around 18pm for the duration of the exhibition.
